Lichtenstein Style

The portraits produced using our Lichtenstein style are inspired by the great American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein (1923-1997), who, along with Andy Warhol, is widely credited as being one of the forefathers of the pop art movement.

Influenced by the art from comic books and advertising, Lichtenstein used vibrant colours and his signature benday dot technique throughout his career, resulting in parts of his artwork appearing as small dots when viewed close up and as a block of colour from a distance. Some of his famous works include Whaam! (1963) and the Drowning Girl (1963).

Most photographs are well suited for our Lichtenstein style portraits, but nicely focused head and shoulder shots work best. Roll your mouse over the examples on the right to reveal a larger image and the original photo.

When submitting your order, feel free to provide us with your colour, cropping or style preferences - you can refer to our numbered examples if necessary (e.g. ‘li001’). If you are unsure, simply place your order and we’ll use our judgement and provide you with some options at the proof stage.
