Opie Style
Our ‘Opie style’ is based on a technique created by leading contemporary artist, Julian Opie. Perhaps his most famous work was the cover of Blur’s Best of album from 2000, where he received many accolades and awards.
Opie’s characteristic graphic approach involves minimising the level of detail within facial features, resulting in an aesthetically simple portrait, where the sitter is still instantly recognisable.
The type of photograph that works well for this technique is one where the subject is looking straight ahead and with the mouth closed. A passport photo pose would be ideal, but there is no harm in smiling. Roll your mouse over the examples on the right to reveal a larger image and the original photo.
When submitting your order, feel free to provide us with your colour, cropping or style preferences - you can refer to our numbered examples if necessary (e.g. 'op001'). If you are unsure, simply place your order and we’ll use our judgement and provide you with some options at the proof stage.
